On Sept. 8 French Foreign Minister Barrou said France will halt trade in goods
from Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory. France and 11
other countries — the UK, Canada, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Ireland, Iceland,
Norway, Poland, Portugal and Sweden — issued a joint statement committing to
restrict trade in settlement-origin goods, saying the West Bank situation is
rapidly deteriorating with unprecedented settler violence and settlement
expansion. France, the UK and Canada will pursue national-level measures to ban
trade with settlements; Barrou urged the European Union to adopt corresponding
steps.
