China's pork market is showing a modest rebound: national live hog price was
11.59 yuan/kg in the first week of September, up 0.3% week-on-week, and pork
price was 21.23 yuan/kg, up 0.2% WoW, marking four consecutive weekly increases,
the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said. In Beijing, Xinfadi
wholesale fresh pork averaged 14.00 yuan/kg on Sept. 8, 12% higher than Aug. 1.
Traders cite seasonal demand as temperatures cool and expectations of tighter
supply after declines in breeding-sow inventories; Xinfadi analyst Liu Tong said
the recovery remains mild and further upside should be limited by still-ample
live-hog stocks.
