Semafor reports the Irish Media Commission is investigating Elon Musk’s social media
platform X over child-safety practices, focusing on its age-verification
mechanisms and parental controls. The regulator said it will assess whether X
effectively implements age safeguards and whether it provides adequate
protection for users under 16 where adult content is allowed; it flagged
parental-control features as potentially inadequate, hard to find, and not
sufficiently highlighted to new users. If found to breach Irish online-safety
regulations, X could face fines of up to €20m or 10% of the company’s annual
turnover.
