On the 8th (local time) the US Treasury announced a new round of sanctions on 36
entities targeting Iran's aviation sector and related firms as part of
stepped-up economic pressure. The measures are intended to further constrain
Mahan Air's operations and extend to other Iranian carriers, as well as alleged
shell companies, foreign intermediaries and transshipment networks said to
facilitate acquisition of US-origin aircraft and sensitive technology.
