Sepahnews, a media outlet affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard
Corps (IRGC), questioned the U.S. claim that an unmanned submersible suffered
equipment failures, asking if the vehicle indeed lacked sonar and other key
systems why it was operating in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC said U.S.
emphasis on ageing equipment and the absence of sensitive gear appears aimed at
downplaying the incident.
