U.S. forces struck targets near Kharg Island and the port city of Jask on Sept.
8, U.S. officials said. An anonymous senior U.S. official said the strikes
included an Iranian oil tanker. Iranian reports said a tanker was struck by U.S.
missiles about 4 miles from Kharg; local sources reported no casualties and said
the crew were evacuating. Authorities are investigating the incident.
