The White House said President Trump will ban imports of Canadian alcoholic beverages, certain dairy products and large motorcycles effective Sept. 29, citing Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930. The administration also said it will extend existing 50% tariffs to dozens of additional Canadian goods — including some steel and aluminum products, furniture and paper — effective Sept. 15. The White House noted the ban blocks market access for affected Canadian goods, rather than merely raising prices as a tariff would.
