The U.S. Supreme Court on the 8th denied Missouri's emergency appeal to use a
GOP-favoring congressional map in the November midterms; the order was issued by
conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who handles emergency applications from
parts of the U.S. Midwest. Missouri's Supreme Court on the 3rd unanimously ruled
the state must restore the prior post-census map; whether the new map is used
will be decided by runoff votes in the November midterms. Trump and Missouri
Republicans oppose the ruling; state Attorney General Katherine Hanaway filed
the emergency appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court on the 4th.
