Chen Binhua said national reunification is an unstoppable historical trend and,
for Taiwan residents, is not optional but mandatory. The remarks followed
social-media posts by a Changhua Normal University associate professor proposing
a one country, two systems Taiwan plan that sparked cross-Strait debate; Chen
said Beijing welcomes more Taiwanese taking reunification seriously, discussing
the plan’s specifics and offering suggestions.
