According to MacRumors, Apple's 2026 foldable iPhone may be named "iPhone Ultra." The external screen will be approximately 5.5 inches, using an OLED display, primarily for operation when the phone is folded. When unfolded, it will feature a large 7.8-inch OLED screen. The unfolded device will be wider horizontally than vertically, similar to an iPad mini folded in half. When unfolded, the iPhone Ultra may be only 4.5 mm thick, making it Apple's thinnest iPhone to date. When folded, it will be approximately 9 mm thick, similar to the 8.75 mm thickness of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Due to limited internal space, the iPhone Ultra may not be able to accommodate the TrueDepth camera system for Face ID, and will instead use Touch ID. The device will have a Touch ID power button on the side, similar in design to the iPad Air and iPad mini. Although it lacks Face ID, both the internal and external screens will have front-facing cameras. Apple also doesn't have enough internal space to accommodate a triple-lens rear camera system, so the iPhone Ultra won't be equipped with a telephoto lens.
