Apple (AAPL.O) unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, running iOS 27
and Apple Intelligence/Siri AI. Both phones use the A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm
process; Apple says memory bandwidth is up 50% versus the A19 Pro, the 7‑core
GPU is up to 40% faster, and a dual 16‑core Neural Engine doubles AI
performance. A next‑generation heat spreader boosts sustained performance by as
much as 40%. Imaging is upgraded with a 48MP fused main sensor and Apple’s first
variable aperture (six laser‑cut blades) plus professional camera controls and
expanded video features including ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2 and Genlock. Apple
says the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers the largest battery improvement in iPhone
history; the eSIM model supports up to 45 hours of video playback. Storage
ranges 256GB–2TB. US pricing: iPhone 18 Pro from $1,199; Pro Max from $1,299.
Preorders begin Sept. 12, on sale Sept. 18.
