The WTO on Sept. 9 released its Goods Trade Barometer at 102.0, up from 101.7 in
June and above the 100 baseline, indicating goods trade is above trend and
continuing to expand. The WTO said geopolitical and policy uncertainty persists,
and negative effects from the Middle East conflict are being partly offset by
strong demand for AI-related electronic components. By the barometer's
construction, readings above 100 signal goods trade growing faster than trend.
