US media including CBS reported on Sept. 9 that multiple US aircraft were damaged after Iran struck Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base on Sept. 8. CBS, citing sources, said an A-10 attack aircraft was hit and one wing sheared off; eight F-15s sustained light damage and have since been returned to service. The strike followed by US strikes on five Iranian oil tankers earlier on Sept. 8. US forces in Jordan fired more than 30 Patriot surface-to-air missiles to defend against the attack.
