At the 2026 China Unicom Partner Conference, Muxi founder Chen Weiliang said AI
is accelerating on advances in data, compute and algorithms and that the compute
sector faces a twofold dilemma. On the demand side he warned of a large compute
shortage: large models have reached trillion- to ten-trillion-parameter scale,
training and inference compute demand is rising exponentially, token consumption
is surging as AI moves from lab to scaled commercial deployment, and a sustained
compute supply gap has emerged.
