At a Sept. 10 State Council Information Office briefing, CSRC vice chairman Li
Chao said supervision is the regulator’s primary duty and the commission has
kept strict, law-based oversight. He said the CSRC handled 644 securities and
futures violation cases in the first eight months of the year and imposed
penalties and confiscations totaling nearly CNY10 bln.
