After several days of declines Hong Kong stocks reopened sharply lower; the Hang Seng opened down 289 points at 24,985, breaching the 25,000 level and its 100‑day moving average and slid to an intraday low of 24,889 (down 385). The index closed down 1.27%; the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 2.04%. Market turnover was HKD 198.86 billion. Application software, power-equipment, heavy-machinery and semiconductor-equipment names led declines; pharmaceuticals and pork names were weak. Autos, tea-drink and online-retail names extended multi-day falls. Printing & packaging and payments outperformed, while public transport, mainland banks, China brokers and household appliances rose.
