Pakistan said on Thursday it is not discussing a military response to Houthi
attacks on Saudi Arabia but will act under the Mecca Agreement "when the time
comes", foreign ministry spokesman Sajjad Haider Khan said at a weekly briefing.
The joint defense pact signed last month with Saudi Arabia and Turkey says an
attack on any of the three states will be treated as an attack on all. Khan’s
comments followed Houthi strikes this week on Saudi cities and energy
infrastructure that Reuters said has opened a second front in the Middle East.
Islamabad has warned Iran to restrain its Houthi ally and condemned the attacks
but gave no detail on how it might fulfill obligations under the pact.
