Morgan Stanley upgrades its rating on Synopsys, a chip design software and IP provider, from Neutral to Overweight, with a target price of $500, citing clearer synergies following the Ansys acquisition, a recovering Design IP business, and potential increased demand for simulation software from physical AI (robotics, autonomous driving, etc.). If AI chip development accelerates and physical AI and software testing generate higher profitability, the stock price could reach $1,000. However, if the semiconductor downturn impacts R&D spending, it could fall to $200. (These views are from Morgan Stanley's September 8th report.)
