BNP Paribas economists say the BOJ could raise its policy rate to 1.25% next
week and then to 1.75% after further hikes in December and March, citing upside
inflation risk as firms may pass higher energy, metals and chip costs onto
consumers. They add the tightening could proceed smoothly given a tight labor
market and demand support from AI-driven activity and government fiscal
expansion.
