AFP reports Houthi forces have taken control of the Bab el-Mandeb strait, which
links the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden and carries roughly 10% of global trade. The
move creates a second major chokepoint for vessels transiting to the Suez Canal,
raising near-term disruption risk for oil and commodity shipments alongside
Iranian interference in the Strait of Hormuz.
