The European Commission on the 11th approved €6.1 bln for Ukraine to procure
air- and missile-defense systems, munitions, drones and electronic-warfare
equipment, allowing purchases from EU and Ukrainian suppliers. Member states
agreed the arrangement and Ukraine may use the funds to acquire Patriot PAC-3
missiles. The funding is drawn from a €90 bln EU support loan—€60 bln earmarked
for aid defense and €30 bln for budget support—scheduled for disbursement in
2026–27. The Commission says the approval completes allocation of the €28.3 bln
2026 defense-aid tranche and specifies procurement items, suppliers, quantities
and implementation timelines.
