The head of Russia's largest bank said the Russian central bank is working with
the Reserve Bank of India to build a mechanism to settle bilateral trade in
digital currencies, aimed at speeding and making cross-border payments more
efficient. Russia launched its digital ruble on Sept. 1; India piloted a central
bank digital currency in 2022 and has used it in some government projects. The
Kremlin said Russia will raise digital-currency trade settlement at this week's
BRICS summit in New Delhi, and India supports the initiative.
