Iranian President PEZESHKIAN met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the
BRICS summit on Saturday morning to discuss the regional situation, bilateral
ties and Muslim solidarity. PEZESHKIAN said building relations with neighbors
and ‘brother’ states is a core strategy for the Islamic Republic and that ties
are expanding and strengthening. He said Iran has no disputes with Muslim
neighbors but accused the United States of trying to turn friendly countries
against one another, and said Iran’s demands are rights afforded by
international law. He blamed regional conflicts on US and European expansionism
and actions by Israel, saying they oppose the existence of independent states in
the region.
