After the U.S. announced new sanctions on Iranian carriers, Iraqi sources said
Basra International Airport had suspended all flights to and from Iran. Mehr
news agency reporting from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Airport says that is
incorrect: Imam Khomeini PR manager Ali Kashani Heydari told reporters Iran has
no services to or from Basra, so none were canceled. Flights from Imam Khomeini
to Najaf and Baghdad remain scheduled and are operating as planned.
