Iraq deputy prime minister and foreign minister Fuad Hussein held a phone call
with Iran’s foreign minister on Sept. 12. They discussed Iraq’s recent temporary
closure of several border crossings with Iran, the reasons and follow-up
arrangements; exchanged views on the attack on Saudi Arabia and progress of
related investigations; and reviewed a planned regional meeting in Oman — to
include GCC members, Iraq and Iran — focused on Strait of Hormuz security. Iraq
said it supports the meeting and will send a delegation. The ministers also
exchanged views on Yemen and called for easing regional tensions through
dialogue and negotiations.
