AstraZeneca said a late-stage trial of Etcamah in recurrent or metastatic,
treatment‑naive breast cancer patients failed to delay disease progression
versus standard therapy. Analysts say the setback could cut the drug’s peak
sales by up to $3.8bn. The result raises pressure on CEO Pascal Soriot to prove
the company’s internal pipeline. AstraZeneca also reported positive data over
the weekend from two lung cancer candidates.
