The Ministry of Civil Affairs issued a fraud warning after criminals
impersonated ministry staff to promote a 'Guosheng Minan' elderly-subsidy
project and solicit investment, financing and wealth-management activity. The
ministry says it never organized such projects and urged the public to be
vigilant. It advised reporting individuals or organizations posing as ministry
staff or the Department of Elderly Services to civil affairs authorities, and
victims should report losses to local police. The ministry will report the
matter to police and legal pursuit action against responsible parties.
