Sultan Barakat, a professor of public policy at Hamad bin Khalifa University, stated that Gulf states must accept the reality that cargo routes through the Strait of Hormuz are unlikely to return to their pre-war state. Having experienced what has happened, the Iranians will not allow warships (armed forces) linked to the US or Israel to continue freely passing through the strait. The Gulf Arab states have to compromise with Iran because they face numerous risks as markets gradually adjust to the chaos in the Strait of Hormuz and other key waterways. The Arab states must accept some new arrangement because they themselves will ultimately pay the highest price. They are unable to ship 90% of their goods, and the international market will not wait for them to recover and reconnect. They are already searching for alternatives daily. Despite rising prices, a truly serious supply crisis has not yet emerged in the international market.
