AP reports the East-West pipeline crossing Saudi Arabia, attacked last week,
will be largely out of service for several weeks while damaged sections are
repaired. The 1,200 km pipeline — central to Saudi plans to route exports via
the Red Sea to avoid the Strait of Hormuz, where Iranian attacks have disrupted
shipping — has capacity of up to 7 mln bpd. Officials said repairs to major pump
stations could take three to five weeks; the line may run partially while repair
teams work.
