Business Insider reported Oracle (ORCL.N) has launched a new round of layoffs expected to begin Monday, saying the cuts are aimed at trimming payroll as the company accumulates debt to fund AI infrastructure. Internal documents show some teams face double-digit reduction rates. Oracle said headcount fell by 21,000 (13%) in fiscal 2026 ended May 31 and that it had about 141,000 employees before this tranche. The company has amassed hundreds of billions of dollars of debt to build data centers; Q1 capex was $28.5 bln versus $8.5 bln a year earlier, and Oracle is maintaining fiscal 2027 capex guidance of $90–95 bln.
