A European Commission document says the EU will propose banning children under
15 from using social media, video-sharing platforms, AI chatbots and online
games. The measure, part of the EU Kids Act, is due to be unveiled by Thursday
European Commission president VON DER LEYEN and the commission's tech chief,
with parts possibly previewed in VON DER LEYEN's Wednesday policy speech. The
proposal would curb technology firms' ability to access and influence minors,
allow phased age-based access limits across services (including gaming
platforms), and impose company obligations scaled to service type and child age.
