Denmark’s military said a Russian frigate fired two flares on Thursday at a
Danish military helicopter in international waters off the Danish coast,
narrowly missing the aircraft. The Danish Defense Command said the helicopter
was conducting a routine photography mission of the frigate and that the flares
are pyrotechnic devices typically used at sea as warning signals. Defense
Minister Jeppe Bruus told broadcaster TV2 Denmark will summon the Russian
ambassador in Copenhagen for talks.
