Sept 15 — Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a routine
briefing that Beijing told a visiting Japan-China Friendship Parliament League
Youth delegation on Sept 14, via Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin, that
Japanese Prime Minister TAKAICHI’s Taiwan-related remarks are the principal
cause of the current serious difficulties in China-Japan relations. The ministry
urged Japan to abide by the four political documents governing bilateral ties,
draw lessons from history, take concrete actions to regain the trust of Asian
neighbors and the international community, and called on the parliamentary
group to help create conditions for restoring relations to a normal track.
