A South Korean lawmaker told the finance minister-designate in a parliamentary
hearing that President Trump will on Friday (18th) announce details of Seoul's
planned US investment under a reported US$350 billion commitment. Media-reported
projects include a Texas gas project, construction of eight nuclear reactors, an
Alaska LNG project, a possible US request to reprocess roughly 4,000 tons of
nuclear material, and carbon capture. Finance minister-designate Lee Heung-Il
said discussions are ongoing and declined to comment until talks conclude. South
Korea has not confirmed negotiation specifics; the industry ministry briefed
lawmakers on the issue last week, an informed source said.
