Poland plans to reinstate a 60% windfall tax on oil companies' excess profits
earned from March–December 2026, with proceeds earmarked to lower domestic fuel
prices. The government estimates the levy will raise about PLN 4 billion
annually (~$1.06 billion). The bill was previously vetted and referred to the
Constitutional Court, which has not ruled; the government has resubmitted the
measure and intends to approve it and send it back to parliament, urging the
president not to block it again.
