Huawei unveiled the world’s first 3D data center, published a monograph and
opened an outline design library to co-develop an AIDC (AI data center)
paradigm. The design vertically stacks traditionally horizontal data-center
functions into four layers—bottom-up: cooling, IT equipment, power and
backup—borrowing chip-fab separation of “power” and “production” layers. Huawei
said 10-trillion-parameter models and rapid token growth raise AI infrastructure
requirements, and ASCEND SUPERNODE clusters with more than 100,000 cards will
become the baseline configuration. The 3D data center uses layered decoupling
and vertical stacking to support ASCEND SUPERNODE clusters as a “super compute
factory."
