The 2026 China Economic and Social Forum was held in Hangzhou on 15 June. Wang
Dongfeng, vice chairman and secretary-general of the National Committee of the
Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of the China
Economic and Social Council, delivered the keynote, saying President Xi’s global
governance initiative, following the global development, security and
civilization initiatives, is another important international public good that
provides strategic support for building a community of shared future for
mankind. Wang called for intensified exchanges on governance experience,
adherence to the community-of-shared-future concept, and a multilateral,
consultative approach to global governance to build consensus and collective
capacity. He said China is willing to work with other countries to pursue that
goal, strengthen cooperation, and meet shared risks and challenges.
