At a State Council press briefing, the National Bureau of Statistics said China’s high‑tech industry investment rose 5.2% YoY in the first eight months, accelerating 0.2 percentage points from Jan‑Jul and marking the third consecutive months of faster cumulative growth. The bureau said policy guidance and market demand are driving faster local deployment into emerging and future industries. By subsector, investment in electronic special materials manufacturing rose 8.5% YoY, integrated circuit manufacturing was up 12.0% YoY, and lithium‑ion battery manufacturing increased 20.6% YoY, the latter supported by new energy vehicle development and strong energy‑storage demand. The bureau also noted rapid growth in core AI technology and application demand, which is prompting firms to expand investment across related supply chains.
