The U.S. House passed a Russia sanctions-and-tariffs bill 262-159; the measure
will be sent to President Trump for signature. The bill targets Russian
officials, companies and financial institutions that support the war in Ukraine
and authorizes the president to impose tariffs on major importers of Russian oil
and gas. Tariff authority was a key Democratic objection; Democrats warned it
could allow the president to designate any country as aiding evasion and impose
tariffs of up to 100% without oversight or a sunset clause.
