Axios, citing three people, says Trump is expected to meet Gulf leaders or
foreign ministers next Tuesday in New York during the UN General Assembly —
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman — to discuss next steps
in the war with Iran. The meeting will focus on a U.S. post-war strategy; Trump
and senior advisers are drafting a plan they expect to finalize after the
midterm elections. One source said the meeting could be expanded to include
other Arab and Muslim leaders. An Israeli source said Prime Minister Netanyahu
also wants a meeting in New York with Trump but none is scheduled. Trump said on
Wednesday he hopes "we are close to the end of the war" and repeated that he has
heard directly from Iran that it wants to reach an agreement.
