Sept 16-17, 2026 — China and Pakistan held the inaugural Border Joint Committee meeting in Islamabad. The session was co-chaired by Li Ya, deputy director of the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs, and Choudhry, director-general of the China Division at Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry. Central and local officials participated. Both sides gave a positive assessment of implementation of the China‑Pakistan Boundary Management System Agreement, exchanged views on cross-border cooperation, agreed to leverage the joint committee mechanism to deepen border management and cooperation, and signed the meeting minutes.
