Beijing, Sept 17, 2026 — China foreign minister Wang Yi met Indonesian National
Economic committee chair Luhut. Wang said bilateral cooperation has a solid base
and new prospects and called for aligning development strategies to upgrade
cooperation. China offered to extend ties from traditional
areas—energy/minerals, infrastructure, industrial parks—into emerging sectors
including artificial intelligence, biopharmaceuticals and information
technology, and to strengthen education exchanges and talent training. Wang said
President Prabowo’s decision for Indonesia to join the World Artificial
Intelligence Cooperation Organization was a wise choice and that China will work
with Indonesia to promote responsible, inclusive AI. China said it would help
Indonesia boost autonomous development capacity and accelerate modernization,
and urged Jakarta to provide a stable, supportive policy environment and strong
policy backing for long-term Chinese business operations in Indonesia.
