Huawei vice chairman and rotating chairman Wang Tao said at Huawei Connect in Shanghai that compute is the core of Huawei’s AI strategy and the company will insist on monetizing hardware. Huawei will deploy a “super-node + cluster” architecture to build a domestic compute base and offer a new global alternative. It will develop an open, open-source compute ecosystem supporting native training of mainstream large models and broad multi-model deployments. The Pangu large model will be focused on product intelligence to boost Huawei’s product competitiveness. Huawei will provide flexible offline and online compute solutions to accelerate industry AI adoption, innovate diverse compute forms to push AI into endpoints and vehicles, and design next-generation communication networks around compute to deliver intelligence to individuals, households and enterprises.
