economic pressure continues, but Tehran believes time is on its side in disputes
over sanctions, maritime blockades and demands to return to negotiations. He
cited US domestic political pressure, sustained high energy prices and US/global
public opposition to war as factors working in Iran’s favor. Hameyar said Tehran
has absorbed economic strain through planned government measures; inf remains
high and consumers face pressure, but authorities have prioritized ensuring
supplies of staple and strategic goods. He added Iran is pursuing diplomacy in
parallel with military preparedness and is maintaining forces to respond to any
potential US attack.
