Vanguard plans to invest roughly $2.5 bln in Vietnam over the next few years as the country moves toward emerging-market status, a senior executive said on Friday. Duncan Burns, head of Vanguard Asia Pacific investment management and global equities, said in Hanoi: "As long as Vietnam remains in the benchmark, Vanguard plans to maintain exposure to Vietnamese assets for decades." FTSE Russell is due to announce Vietnam's upgrade to emerging-market status next week, and foreign investors have already begun positioning in Vietnamese equities.
