Kansai Electric said it manually shut the Unit 3 reactor at the Mihama nuclear
power plant in Fukui prefecture in the early hours of Sept. 18 after inspectors
on Sept. 17 at about 15:45 found water droplets around a pipe vent. The company
said the leak was not expected to immediately affect reactor operation but did
not set a restart time. Kansai Electric said the droplets do not contain
radioactive material and pose no environmental risk.
