BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. and BYD Auto Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the
State Administration for Market Regulation under China’s defective vehicle
recall rules covering certain China-made models. A production batch defect in
the brake pedal stop-pad material can cause the pads to crack after prolonged
use and, in extreme cases, detach; detachment may leave brake lights illuminated
when the pedal is not depressed, creating a safety hazard. BYD will authorize
dealers to replace the improved stop pads free of charge; vehicles that have
already received the improved part are exempt from the recall.
