The Conference Board's Senior Manager of Business Cycle Indicators stated that the U.S. Leading Economic Index fell slightly in August, marking its first monthly decline since March. Four of its ten components declined from the previous month, with consumer expectations remaining a significant drag on the index. Building permits also saw a monthly decrease, with declines in both single-family and multi-family home categories, and across almost all regions.
