The Washington Post reports multiple U.S. officials say actual U.S. military
deaths since the start of the Iran conflict may be higher than Pentagon public
data. The Pentagon’s casualty database lists 18 deaths; five officials told the
paper the true toll is at least 22 and one official said it could be 23. Some
deaths allegedly have not been entered into the public database; identities,
dates and causes were not disclosed. The Pentagon declined to comment on the
discrepancy. The report also says more than 820 U.S. service members have been
wounded since Feb. 28, many suffering traumatic brain injuries from Iranian
strikes.
