President Trump said the United States and Denmark have reached an agreement on
Greenland security, saying the arrangement will address U.S. concerns and ensure
the U.S. can "permanently" maintain the capability to secure Greenland and
protect U.S. security. He said the deal "resolved all major U.S. concerns" and
"does not require the U.S. to bear costs," but did not release the text or
disclose terms. The U.S. already has defense agreements allowing U.S. forces to
be stationed in Greenland. Trump’s long push to expand U.S. influence there has
previously drawn concern from European and NATO allies.
